🚴‍♂️ Two hours of a great tailwind, and I’m feeling optimistic about my ride today. The smooth road and little traffic are making for a pleasant journey. I’m making good progress, covering 70 kilometers in no time.

But just as I turn the corner, everything changes. Suddenly, I’m faced with a strong headwind. Determined not to let it hinder my progress, I quickly call up the van for some wind protection. The van drives right beside me for the next 20 kilometers, allowing me to ride close to the yellow line while they occupy their lane. We are less than a meter from each other.

As I reach 90 kilometers, the wind shifts to 1:30 on the clock, making it incredibly difficult to control the bike. It feels like I’m being blown sideways, hell i am, and trying starting again after stopping becomes a real challenge. I find myself leaning to the right at a 45-degree angle, struggling to maintain balance. The girls notice the slant the back tire makes as it fights to grip the road, and we all agree that it’s becoming dangerous. Our weather apps indicate thst the wind is 54kmp and gusting to 81kph. Thats well into gale force wind catagory. Decision to stop is very difficult but it is impossible to continue and the app says the wind will continue for a few more days. Ok i quite for the day.

At this point, our priority is to get into the van safely. We decide not to open the front doors, fearing that it might cause more damage. After some effort, we manage to get inside. The day’s ride is over, and we drive 15 kilometers to a nice hotel in Gobernador, a good-sized town.

Since it’s only one o’clock, it feels like a rest day. I take the opportunity to catch up on different things and mentally prepare myself for another day of cycling tomorrow.
