It was just a short ride today as we had to ride through Salta, a city of around 800,000, to find a Western Union. The WU had a line that would take at least an hour to reach the front. The second place only had 14 people in front of me.
Western Union is the preferred method to change dollars to Argentina pesos. As I mentioned earlier, if I use my debit card or credit card, I will get 350 pesos USD. If I send money to myself via WU, I will get 840 pesos, so you see it more than doubles your money. It turned out to be relatively simple.
I also solved my battery charging problem, as the hotel we stayed in for the last two nights had a spare transformer that they sold me.
Now I have one more problem we need to solve. Here, the restaurants don’t open until eight p.m., and it is a long wait from 4:30 when we finish our ride for the day until we eat our evening meal. Today, we resorted to just eating bread, cheese, meat, and a bottle of wine on the patio of the hotel and enjoying a warm spring evening.
