1. Why did you want to do this?
I wanted another adventure to celebrate my 80th birthday. It took me a while to decide to ride from Alaska to Panama.

2. Why did you pick the route you are taking?
We rode from Alaska to Mexico City in 2015, so I wanted to take a different route. Hence interior of BC, the Pacific Coast of the USA, and the east side of the Sea of Cortez.

3. Why an ebike?
I have been touring by ebike for a few years, and I enjoy it. I also wanted to demonstrate that you can your a long way on an ebike.

4. You have support. Is that not an easy way?
Yeah, it is, but I have done my share of bikepacking. My first bike packing was with my wife in 1972.

5. Others have ridden ebikes a longer distance than you plan.
Yes, that is true, but they did not apply for a Guinness World Record.

Seven thousand miles, I believe, was just set last month.

7. Is it dangerous to ride in Mexico and the further south?
I have traveled and ridden in Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. I never had a problem. The USA press blows a lot of things out of proportion. The bears in the north are more dangerous.

We a van pulling a tent trailer. Three sleep in TT and one in the truck. We also have two tents: some nights Airbnb and some nights hotels.

12. Have you done king rides before?
Yes. Many. First one was in 1972 and longest one was 10,400 km

13. Are you raising money for anything?
Yes you can donate funds for the purchase of Christmas presents for children in Panama. Since we started in North Pole Ak and end in December it seemed to tie in. Please go to go octoodyssey.com to donate.

15. Do you have sponsors?
Yes I have some great sponsors. Again you can go to web page to see the list.

16. Will you accept other sponsors?
Yes of course.

17. Would you be available to speak at our convention?
If I am free I would love to speak at your convention or workshop.

18. Are you planning more adventure?
First we have to finish this one. Then we need to wait 6 months for the right timing to do South America.

    Hello…I appreciate your quest.

I am thinking of getting an Atlas for longer rides. But I am concerned about the weight of the extra battery on the back a the weight of panniers making the front light and handling issues.
I wonder your thoughts on this.
