After dealing with my money issues two days ago in El Calafate, Gloria and I decided to treat ourselves and go to an elegant Argentina restaurant. We went to Mako’s on Main Street, where several customers were dining outside and enjoying the sun even though it was relatively cool. We opted to sit inside where it was warm.
Lunch consisted of Corn soup with floating goat’s milk cheese ice cream. Yes, that is correct. It was different and delicious and was accompanied by different types of bread. For a beverage, I had the local artisan beer.
Desert was another bowl of soup, warm white chocolate soup with a good size ball of dark chocolate filled with more creamy white chocolate.
After lunch, I returned to the hotel to do a podcast for SeekTravelRide. You might like to listen to some of her episodes about people doing different bicycle adventures. Another podcast I did a few weeks back was for cycling over 60—lots of exciting things on his site. Yesterday, I set off on a long ride, 167k; it turned out to be the longest ride by 5k on the Odyssey. The temperature was an incredible 1 degree under blue skies with the sun shining brightly. Off I went and picked up a strong tailwind as I returned to Ruta 40. I had one big climb, but with a 45kph tailwind, I flew like a Condor and got to lunch at 100k in just over three hours. However, during lunch, a storm front moved through the area, and the sky darkened, and the wind shifted more from the west, but still gave me some assistance. Not long after starting again, it began to snow, and I rode through a brief snowstorm turned a corner, found my tailwind again, and flew to an early 4 pm finish. Will tomorrow be as good? We will see.
