Just a short ride to Ica, only 73k, so we were there by lunch. It made the day feel like a rest day, which is okay as 144k tomorrow. Today, we rode past vineyards as far as the eyes could see—also orange groves and plenty of vegetables.

I wanted to visit some wineries, but they closed early and did not offer dinner. So, I never got to sample some Peruvian vino.

Julie, Johana, and Bernice went to Oasis Huacachina for a dune buggy ride. Since I had experienced that in Oregon, Australia, and Namibia, I decided not to.
Gloria and I went to the oasis to meet them and have dinner.
Oasis Huacachina turned out to be another treasure and a big surprise. It would be best if you visited it when you go to Ica.

I should also credit southern Peru as the towns have been very clean, and the highways had maybe 75% less garbage. The past four days have been exceptional and educational.
