Yesterday’s ride was 97k in another dull, overcast day with very little wind. The southern desert is different than the north as far as development. We passed hundreds of fancy condo developments as we rode beside many beaches. Lots were selling from $300 to USD 7500—condos were priced from $44,000. The towns are more prosperous, and we have many vegetable farms and trees along the road. Because of the development and beaches, we could entertain ourselves by reading all the billboards and restaurant signs.
We stopped at Andrea’s place. Here, he showed us his old bicycles, entombed in cement. He once rode for the Peruvian national team, and the fellow on the roof is dressed in his national jersey, although it is slightly faded.
