Ocotoodyssey is back on the road after two days of non-riding in Santiago, Chile. I found Santiago attractive with parks, tree-lined streets, modern shopping malls, and an excellent road and transportation system.
We said goodbye to Bernice and Julie as they returned home. Bernice was a great riding companion from Quito to Santiago, and I enjoyed her company. Julie was a big help with driving and doing social media. I am sure my Instagram postings will not be as many or as interesting. Donna and Laura arrived and will accompany me as far as Puerto Montt, 17 days away. Yesterday, we cycled out of Santiago on bike paths for maybe 25k and then on quiet country roads past vineyards, orchards, mixed farming, and quaint villages. We had one good climb on a closed highway because of numerous landslides, but it was okay to cycle on, but cars were not permitted.
The day was overcast and cool but dry.
We cycled past the largest wine producer in Chile, Concha y Toro, where the day before, we took a tour and had lunch.
The winery is on a large estate, and they charged $25 for the tour and three small tastings. To me, it was very overpriced, but the others enjoyed the day.
