Our Halloween ride took us along the coast before turning inland and through beautiful pine forests. I had not seen a logging truck since maybe northern British Columbia. It was so lovely to smell the fresh-cut pine trees as they whizzed by us on the trucks, memories of Canada. We rode 131k, climbed 1195m, and faced a strong headwind all day with cool temperatures under a blue sky.
My two riding partners, Laura and Donna, did an outstanding job riding the entire day. It was a difficult day, even on an e-bike, but Laura accomplished it on her bike. Well done, Laura. After we started, we rode about 45k without seeing the van; I was beginning to worry, where were they? Just then, they appeared with the car decorated with spider webs and flowers. When Gloria and Johana jumped out, they had their faces painted and Halloween signs saying Happy Halloween on their heads. Of course, they had to dress the three riders up as well. We had a lot of laughs, especially as my Dracula’s cape flew behind me when I was riding. We got a lot of good-natured honks from passing cars.
Last night, there were many children out in town trick-or-treating. Most of them appeared to be visiting the stores.
