Day three was completed—132k and 736 up. Yesterday, Johanna and Mike drove back to Cartagena, and Mike replaced his shifters and derailleurs. Meanwhile, I had mechanical problems. I cross-threaded my left pedal when putting them on, and with 15k to go, the pedal fell off. I hailed a Moto with a trailer and $15; he drove me to our hotel, where I replaced the crank arm. EFI did not last long. I had a great time on the beach at night and went to bed at a good time. Today, we woke to heavy rain, so we waited a few hours for it to let up. It was a good day of riding on quiet country roads through green and lush farmland. Today, it was Rachel’s turn for mechanical problems. Her rear derailleur would not shift through all ten gears. Tomorrow, bike store. Instagram @Octoodyssey, where you can follow as well.
