Day one is finished 83 k and 275 m. Lots of traffic as we made our way through Cartagena, but we found the drivers to be very polite and had no problem. The rest of the day, maybe 80%, we rode on a nice smooth shoulder. However, it was hot and humid, and we were glad to stop for refreshments. The landscape was green and lush. We did have a significant mechanical; Mike’s back derailleur shifter broke and left him with only two gears. We hope to find parts tomorrow, as Johanna and Mike will drive back to Cartagena.
