Today’s ride was uphill to Pitalito in the south of Colombia. I had two flats before I even started—another day of incredible landscapes of lakes, rivers, and mountains. We met two other road warriors, both named John, but not riding together. One from Rio and one from Sweden. They are the first two we have met in Colombia—another lovely town with a large brick church. In-line skating is a big sport here, and we came across a group of children and their coach training in front of the church. Last night’s hotel in a 100-year-old large family home converted to a hotel. It had hot water.
