After three nights in Medellín with a perfect host in Jim, we are back on the road to Bogotá. Today we arrived at our cottage in the mountains 80k from Jim’s condo after climbing 1355m. The last 43k was downhill with lots of dangerous curves and switchbacks. One had to be careful as the 18-wheelers had difficulty on the corners. Their rear wheels took all the road on the corner, and I had to be careful not to get caught between the wheels and the side drop-offs. Another problem was coming down the hill and going around the curve, only to be faced with a truck taking the turn by using my lane. Brakes on till the truck makes the corner. Because of what may be the longest downhill of the Octoodyssey, we arrived at the cottage at 2:15 p.m. The views to both sides were of deep green valleys and towering mountains.
