As I cycle counterclockwise around the island, I am amazed at how many marvelous beaches I encounter. Even if the shore is rocky, the colors of the sea are spectacular.
I made the day short as the hotel I selected was right on the beach, and I wanted to go for a swim. The little town is called Canyamel.
The next day I cycled through a town, Cala Ratjata, which might end up being one of my favorites. I liked it mainly because it had quaint little coves, a port, and a large beach, as you see above.
From there, I moved on to a more significant city inland called Arta. I was in luck as the street market was in full swing. I spent maybe an hour walking a vast area, six square blocks. Perhaps more. I checked out the stalls with all their different wares and food and watched the people as I pushed my bike through the crowds.
Bike storage at Blue Sea Piscis Hotel
A couple of people asked where do I keep the bike at night. Two of the four hotels that I have stayed in so far have bike storage rooms like you see here. The other two hotels just had a plain storage room. Cycling is a big tourist business for the local economy.
